All Muay Thai professionals must abide by certain morals and principles that form the soul of the sport. Training methods involve a disciplinary approach that imbibes these morals. Muay Thai training focuses on body conditioning and improving the toughness of an individual. This training regimen involves a series of combat sport conditioning such as running, shadow boxing, rope jumping, body weight resistance exercises, medicine ball exercises, abdominal exercises and weight training.
Before starting the Muay Thai training, every learner should be acquainted with the terminology and various weapons used during the sport. Coaches provide specific Muay Thai training to fighters using different methods such as Thai Pads, focus mitts, heavy bag and sparring. Boxer can practice punches, kicks, knees and elbow strikes with Thai Pad training. During this training, trainer wears protective Thai pads on the forearms, hands and abdomen. Boxers can develop their hand’s speed, punch combinations, timing, punching power and technique using Focus Mitts training method. Heavy bag training and sparring methods are required to test and evaluate the technique, skills and strategy of the fighter. During sparring methods, the fighters are taught with specific strategies and tactics such as clinching and kneeing only, close fighting, cutting off the ring and keeping away from an aggressive fighter.
